The Ivinson Home for Ladies was born from the vision of Edward Ivinson, who sought to create a lasting tribute to his beloved wife, Jane. At her behest, he established this home to provide a place of comfort, dignity, and security for the senior women of Laramie. Since our doors opened in the spring of 1930, we have remained steadfastly dedicated to this founding mission. Governed by a board of trustees, the Home continues to operate not as a business, but as a non-profit institution committed to preserving the Ivinsons' legacy of compassion and gracious living for generations to come.
At the heart of the Ivinson Home is a deep respect for the independence and individuality of each resident. Life here is designed to offer freedom from the burdens of home maintenance, allowing ladies to focus on what truly matters. Each resident enjoys a private suite, a personal canvas to decorate with her own furniture and cherished mementos. While privacy is paramount, a rich community life thrives just outside one's door. The day's rhythm can include joining friends for three delicious, home-cooked meals in our beautiful dining room, participating in gentle exercise classes, enjoying the convenience of our on-site beauty salon, or simply relaxing in one of our cozy common areas. Residents manage their own schedules and are free to welcome guests and come and go as they please, all with the peace of mind that comes from living in a secure and supportive environment.
A cornerstone of the Ivinsons' vision was to ensure this exceptional quality of life would be accessible to the women of Laramie, regardless of their financial circumstances. This principle is made possible by the generous endowment Edward Ivinson established nearly a century ago. This foundational gift continues to cover the majority of the Home's operational costs, relieving residents of the significant financial pressures often associated with senior living. In lieu of fixed rent, residents are invited to contribute a monthly donation based on their individual ability to pay. This unique, trust-based financial model ensures that the Ivinson Home remains a true home, guided by a spirit of community and mutual support rather than commercial interests.
